Area overview

Those looking for property for sale or to rent in W2 may be interested to know that according to central London estate agent, Manors, the Hyde Park Estate has remained in the hands of the church since medieval times. The Estate, which originally covered around 500 acres, extends from Sussex Gardens in the north to Bayswater Road in the south, and from Edgware Road in the east to Lancaster Gate in the west. The open spaces of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are literally on the doorstep offering 350 acres of parkland, the famous Serpentine boating lake, riding and tennis facilities, whilst the Diana Memorial Playground will keep little ones amused for hours.

Hyde Park itself is one of the largest parks in central London and one of the Royal Parks of London, famous for its Speakers' Corner. It’s also among the best city centre parks in the world, all the more awe-inspiring because it creates a virtually unbroken line of green space across the capital with Kensington Gardens, Green Park and St James's Park. Right in the middle of town, Hyde Park is surrounded by a number of thriving areas, from well-to-do Kensington on its south-western tip, to the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street in its north-eastern corner. Many luxury hotels are dotted around its perimeter and property for sale in W2 is extremely sought-after.

As part of the Hyde Park Estate, it is owned by the Church Commissioners of England. ‘The Village’ is home to many fashionable boutiques, designer shops and restaurants, including famous shoemaker Jimmy Choo’s store. Property for sale or to rent in Connaught Village is eternally popular. Indeed, flats to rent in Connaught Village get snapped up by savvy tenants very quickly, whilst flats and houses for sale in Connaught Village also change hands swiftly.
